Let the Children Come to Me, Said Jesus... Unless They Come From Families with LGBTQIA2S+ Parents and Households, Then Stay Away from the Church

Discrimination against LGBTQIA2S+ people in educational settings does not only happen in public schools in Florida, or major research universities and colleges like Baylor University, but goes all the way to pre-school/pre-kindergarten levels, too. In other words, there is discrimination against LGBTQIA2S+ people and our families from "cradle to tomb,” at least in educational settings?

Yes.

From advocate.com, Christopher Wiggins reports that the Catholic Archdiocese of Denver is objecting to the non-discrimination policies of the state of Colorado, just like wedding web designers and cake makers are objecting to the non-discrimination policies of CO. Wiggins reports the following: The Archdiocese of Denver and two of its parishes filed a lawsuit against the state of Colorado's Department of Early Childhood on Wednesday, seeking to overrule an antidiscrimination policy held by the state's universal preschool program protecting LGBTQ+ families or students.

According to the Catholic group, enforcing non-discrimination policies violates the First Amendment and the right to free exercise of faith. All eligible families in CO can now take advantage of 15 hours of taxpayer-funded preschool per week due to a law signed into law by gay Democratic Gov. Jared Polis in 2022.

Because participating schools must accept students regardless of religion, sexual orientation or gender identity, the Catholic organization view this programs as incompatible with Catholicism.”

Remember: the Catholic Church teaches that homosexual acts are always violations of divine and natural law.

The Catholic Archdiocese wants to be free to discriminate against individuals who are LGBTQIA2S+, or if a child’s parents are LGBTQIA2S+, or if the parents are transgender.

By the way, this is another example of how “religious freedom” is going to be used to hack at the advancements we have made in the LGBTQIA2S+ community in the public square. And after these groups can go no further with the LGBTQIA2S+ community, they will continue to work on other underrepresented minority groups.

While Pope Francis keeps trying to make small advancements for LGBGTQIA2S+ people in the Catholic church, he has not changed any of the doctrines or dogma about LGBTQIA2S+ people. And yes, there are plenty of closeted gay and lesbian priests and nuns in many orders, along with monastic communities.

Again: When Jesus called the children to come to him, and be part of the realm of God’s love, saying, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the realm of God’s love belongs to such as these" (Mark 10:13-16), there were no clauses, ifs, ands, or buts. No one was to be kept away if they were LGBTQIA2S+, or if their parents or guardians were LGBTQIA2S+. How plain can I say it: The Catholic Church’s teaching is against the Gospel. Against Jesus.

In the end, WWJD: Do what Jesus would do, and not the Catholic Church. They’re the ones in the wrong on this one.

May it be so.
